1937 The first book in the new book series of American Women's Tales. (1898-1899) This was a story about a girl (and a boy) in Paris who falls in love with an English nobleman. The story takes place in 1837 and describes a life in Paris. The book was written by Alice Roberts and published by Harper's in 1890 and was called "The New American Woman". In 1894, Alice Roberts published her first English Tales, "The Queen" with Peter Veblen in 1898. The book had already been published in France in 1902, and a novel called "Hallelujah" in 1902, but was in this series to be called the "first English American novel" and has been sold in England as such until today!
